I knew Mary Jane when we both worked at the Palermo School. She was always a wise, caring person who I frequently turned to for advice. She stood by me at a very hard time in my life. Although we drifted apart, she held and will hold a special place in my heart.

I taught school with Mary Jane and always found her to be knowledgable, well liked by staff and students, cheerful and fun to be around. Even though we drifted apart, she still had a place in my heart,, She was a good soul,,

So sorry to hear of Mrs. Coleman's passing. I wanted to drop a small note here to her friends and family to let them know that she (like all valued teachers) left a lasting and positive impression on my life and education. I remember her as a stern, but friendly and fair practitioner of sixth grade education... an especially calculated balance that was required for young adolescents as they transition from middle-school innocence to the rapid blur of high school. Only now, as an adult, do I realize how she mastered that balance. I'll always remember her sly sense of humor as well; a lasting memory was her doling out detention to nearly all of her class during quiet time; only to realize that it was April 1st and, we were the fools.
Beyond those formative years, I can still remember her endearing smile often greeting our community in the pews of church and Sunday school. I will remember her fondly and will keep her memory close.

Mary Jane and Greg welcomed me into their house for a Teacher Christmas Party when I was a Student Teacher. From then on I enjoyed teaching with Greg and enjoyed seeing Mary Jane when we had get togethers. My heart goes out to the family. I will never forget their love and kindness.

I remember Mrs. Coleman as the first teacher my son had when we moved to Belfast. She was amazing for him as he adapted to a new environment and new friends. Mary Jane and I knew each other over the years and I loved our conversations and her passsion for so many things. I grieve her loss but celebrate the memories of her life lived. She was a blessing!

Remembering Mary Jane as a very kind and loving person, great teacher, and outgoing personality. Will always cherish the many lengthly crying phone calls when Chris and Jack left for college. We supported each other. I hate to know that she's left us but I (and the world) is a much better place because she was here with us. Loving thoughts to you, Greg and Chris and your wonderful family.

I knew her as a gifted teacher for my children, and later as a dedicated presence at Belfast United Methodist Church, where she continued to impart her wisdom to the youth.

Mary Jane and I worked together for a few years at Morse Memorial School. She was always professional in her dealings with kids and with staff. Probably we had more discussion involving our roles as a mother of boys and how to best nurture them.
Mary Jane was kind and loving. Her quiet way of handling so many situations was something I always admired about her. Once when I had broken my ankle and was propped up in bed for several days to try and get the swelling down, Mary Jane came calling with a gorgeous arrangement of food which we all enjoyed. So thoughtful, so kind, so typical of her.
Our deepest sympathies to all of you. We will surely miss her but trust that you’ll be comforted with your treasured memories of her.
