Obituary of Beverly Mae Trull

Beverly Mae Trull, 81, passed away peacefully in her Bangor home on Saturday, March 30, 2024, just shy of her 82nd birthday. Beverly was the daughter of Arlene (Brush) Trull and Lawrence Trull, born in Lynn, Mass., on April 2, 1942. On December 25, 1942, the family moved to their dairy farm in Unity, Maine.

She attended Unity Elementary until the 6th grade when her mother became her special education teacher at their family farm and in the community teaching her to read, write, do puzzles, embroider, cross stitch, work hard and most of all be a kind person. Beve loved to share letters and her gifts with her friends and family.

Beve resided in Unity most of her life on the farm and in the little house next door where she spent her time taking care of the family’s various animals especially her beloved cow Daisy who she would call out “Heyah” when she got Beve wet. Attending the Quaker Hill Baptist Church was special to her and the love of church carried on through her adult life.

Beve was a favorite companion of all of her nieces and nephews growing up. She was always up for a game of Bingo or Go Fish where she’d whoop when she won. She loved to work a puzzle, pick wild berries, go ice skating, sledding, or snowmobiling. Summer fun included flying kites and playing softball using cow patties for bases. Beverly played with each of them as they grew up and their interests meshed with hers. Beve’s joy in life extended to all of her interactions, and she was always enthusiastic about going for a drive, attending an event, or eating at Governor’s Restaurant where lobster rolls were her meal of choice.

In 2004, she stayed in a few shared living arrangements then living the remainder of her life with Citizens of Maine in the Bangor area. There, she was truly loved and cared for by all who worked with her and became part of their family. Beve enjoyed many car rides around Maine for tea and lunch where many laughs were shared and inappropriate comments were made at “green lights.” She enjoyed the many activities of the day program but bowling was one of her favorite activities. Beve enjoyed many games there once played Simon Says where she told everyone where Simon told them “to go.” She even asked to go for car rides to get her staff away from doing their paperwork.

Although sweet and kind, her sass will be remembered by all and will always bring a smile and laughter to all who experience it.  Beverly faced many challenges from birth but she overcame many of those and proved to others that you can live a happy and fulfilling life. Beverly lived.

Beve was predeceased by her parents, Arlene and Lawrence; her sister Leverne Sanders and her brother Leroy Trull.

She is survived by her nieces and nephews Michel Sanders, Noralene Sanders, Lary Sanders, Tracy Sanders Dunne, Tammie Rossi, Tina Reiff, Torrie Sprague, Todd Trull and their partners; many great nieces and nephews; special friends Darren and Julie Helwig and the caring staff of Citizens of Maine, Wendy Petrowsky Hopkins and so many more.

Nothing pleased Beve more then spending time with her family and friends. We would like to thank all who have made her life so special.  Below are some quotes from those who loved her.

“Beve was loved by all because she was forever young in spirit and a happy soul.”

She did more for us than we did for her.”

We are all so much better off for having her in our lives.”

“She brought us joy to make her smile and take her for her rides.”

“I'm a different, better person for knowing her.”

“We love her sass.”

“Whenever we would get the chance to go bowling she would always roll the ball backwards.”

“I will always think of her when someone stops at a green light.”

“Beve used to take me snowmobiling and she loved to go fast. So much fun.”

Beve Quotes:

“Ship her back where she belongs.”

“She’s my bad penny who always returns,” speaking of a favored staff member.

“Ho ho hum, right Darelyn?” every morning.

In loving memory of Beverly, Darren and Julie Helwig will be naming the Citizens of Maine Center on Route 1 in Northport The Trull Center where her memory will live on. This is an amazing honor for our family and her friends.

In lieu of flowers, the Citizens of Maine Northport Center has created the Beve’s Bacon Piggy Bank Fund to help those members experience adventures they may not have the opportunity to do so otherwise. Please mail checks to Torrie Sprague, P.O. Box 505, Belfast, Maine 04915.

A celebration of Life will be held at the Citizens of Maine Putansu Center in Hampden. A spring graveside service will be held at the Quaker Hill Baptist Church in Unity on Saturday, June 15 at 1:00.  Condolences may be expressed on her tribute wall.
