I have many fond memories of growing up with my Aunt “Bevie”. From doing the barn chores, sledding, playing softball, puzzles, games, embroidery work with her, although her work was well beyond my skill level. I was only 7 or 8! But my fondest memory was Thanksgiving of 1986, when she, her mom (my “Nanie”) and my Mother came to visit Michael and I in Arizona. We spent four days with them traveling to Nogales Mexico, The Grand Canyon, Wickenburg Arizona to see the ranch that first took me to Arizona. The many restaurants. However, on the way back from The Grand Canyon she loudly blurted out “I want a ham dinner with mashed potatoes and nothing else”. Right out of the blue! It was comical! Micheal says where? I said north Phoenix, Carro’s. The best all American restaurant I have ever eaten at. After dinner, she stated she wanted vanilla ice cream. I sweet talked her into trying “Fried Ice cream”. When the waitress comes back to take her order, she loudly asked “how the h@@@ do you fry ice cream?” Hilarious!!! And of course Nanie BEVERLY MAE! Such a sweet sassy lady!
