Obituary of Laurel Louise Small
Laurel Louise Small of Stockton Springs passed away peacefully on March 8, 2024 at the age of 68. She shared 49 years of a loving marriage with her late husband, Robert “Bob” Small. Laurel was born in Belfast, Maine to Laura Harriman and Erwin Damon Sr.
Laurel was a graduate of Searsport District High School. Soon after graduation, she and Bob started their family. Laurel was a dedicated homemaker, known for creating a warm, welcoming home where something delicious was always baking in the oven. Laurel had a special way of showing her love through cooking. She found joy in preparing meals for family and friends. Often her meals were centered around game that her husband harvested, vegetables from their large garden, blueberries picked from their field, apples or peaches from their home orchard, fish they caught, or clams they dug. They were always cooking up a “mess” of something.
Laurel and Bob shared endless hobbies and activities together over the years. They grew a large vegetable garden each year and preserved their many harvests. They enjoyed going to the slots, playing beano, playing cards with friends, fishing, or simply just caring for their lawn that got larger each year. So large, that they each had their own riding lawn mower and would spend hours making sure their lawn was perfect! They were best friends, always finding joy in shared experiences and creating happy memories together.
Laurel cherished family gatherings, whether it was a holiday celebration, a birthday party, lobster at camp, or a backyard barbeque. She was always looking forward to family time.
Laurel is survived by her three children, Tracy (Brad) Rollerson of Belfast, Jill Small of Stockton Springs, and Robert “Bobby” Small of Searsport. Grandchildren, Anthony (Aly), Brian, Paige, Tyler and Ava who were the lights of her life.
Laurel was predeceased by her parents and brother, Bub. She is survived by siblings, Kirt and Diane, many nieces, nephews, and friends who will cherish her memory.
