Obituary of Joan L. Walker

Joan Landry Walker, 80 of Searsport Maine, passed away peacefully at Brewer Center for Health & Rehabilitation on May 22, 2017. She was born in Bangor Maine, March 23, 1937, the daughter of the late Frank Landry and Ruby Estey Marden. Joan was predeceased by her husband Nelson Walker Sr., her sister Katherine Marden Osadebe and her brother Myles Landry. She is survived by daughters Dianne Walker of Carlsbad CA and Laurie Walker Curtis of Prospect; sons, Nelson Walker Jr. of Prospect, David Walker of Delma MD, Mark Walker of Searsport, and stepson Michael Lloyd of Searsport; 2 sisters Dorothy Landry Elliott of Mannford, OK and Ruby Marden Spangler of Fort Wayne, IN; 10 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Joan’s most loyal support came from Michael Lloyd and her future son in law Merl Annis whom together visited her nearly every day. They both graciously gave endless hours of their time to ensure that all of her anticipated needs and wishes were taken care of. Joan attended schools in Searsport, Belfast, and Presque Isle. Joan was widowed in 1973 and was left to raise her 5 young children alone. Her family was very important to her and she made sacrifices for each and every one of them. One of Joan’s favorite past times was being outside and going on walks. She had great faith in God. She was a compassionate and selfless mother and friend and will be greatly missed by all whom had the pleasure of knowing her. The caring staff and residents at the Brewer Center for Health & Rehabilitation became her family and friends over the years and were great comfort during her battle with cancer. Due to Joan’s wishes, there will be no services. She will find her final resting place with her late husband Nelson at Gordon Cemetery in Searsport.
