Obituary of Frank A. Leigher

APPLETON Frank A. Leigher, 82 of Appleton passed away peacefully at the Homestead in Owls Head on February 6, 2017. Frank was born in Appleton, Me on October 19, 1934 to Carolyn (Fish) and Aubert Leigher. Frank attended schools in Appleton and resided there his entire life. Franks passing leaves a huge void in the hearts of his family and friends. He loved his family and blessed them with many happy memories of family gatherings, camping, hunting, fishing trips to Kokadjo, watching boxing matches, NASCAR and local horse pulling. In his early years Frank drove a truck for Hillcrest Poultry, worked in the woods cutting pulp and logs and was a farmer. He was a truck driver for Marriner's Paving before starting his own excavation and trucking business. The results of his many years of hard work are visible throughout the local communities. He had a knack for looking at a parcel of land and quickly estimating the amount of labor and material it would take to complete the job. His reputation was impeccable and he will be remembered by many. Frank loved working and never really retired until forced to before declining health in December 2015. He was predeceased by his parents, daughter Dena Leigher, grandson Will Leigher, sister Muriel Knowlton, brother Richard Leigher and a special brother in law Louis Turner. Frank married his loving and devoted wife Molly (Stark) in Camden on August 15, 1953. He is survived by his wife Molly of Appleton, daughter Donna Hall and her partner Alan Talbot of Camden, son William Leigher and wife Susan of Aldie, VA and daughter Patti Nickles and husband Chuck of Owls Head. He also leaves grandchildren Corey Morgan of Appleton, Christina Sweet and husband Kenny of Ovid, NY, Albert Hall and wife Aubrie of Eliot, Daniel Leigher of Arvada, CO, Ryan Gamage and partner Liz Thompson of Owls Head and Tyler Nickles of Thomaston. Great grandchildren include Courtney, Angel, Caleb, Addelyn, Brody and Rayni. He is also survived by brothers Lloyd of Camden, Bernard and wife Maxine of South Carolina and sister Rhodena Sullivan of Waldo and many special brothers and sister in laws, nieces, nephews and friends. He held a special place in his heart for his " other daughter" Wanda Wyman of Union. A graveside service will be held at Pine Grove Cemetery in Appleton on April 29, 2017 at 10:00 am followed by a celebration of Frank's life at the Masonic Hall in Union. The family would like to thank the staff at the Homestead for the care they gave Frank during his final days. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory can be made to the Maine Health Care at Home/Hospice, 170 Pleasant St., Rockland, Me 04841
