Obituary of Judith J. Wick
Judith Lynn was born to Mildred and Dr. Charles Krause in South Carolina on July 5, 1943. She moved with her parents, brother and sister to Chicago where she grew up. She serendipitously met her future husband Philip Wick (Pip) on a trip to Europe when she was 16 and the ensuing courtship resulted in marriage to Pip in 1962. The Wicks lived in Bethlehem, PA while Pip finished college then moved to Rowayton, CT where they raised their children Sharlene Susan (Shari), Jennifer Lynn (Jenny) and Philip Charles (Chip). As their children grew into their own lives, Judy and Pip spent time in North Carolina and Florida, finally ending up in Maine. Lifelong sailors, they spent many happy moments on Flame and Lucayo sailing the Caribbean and Atlantic Canada. A longtime fiber artist, Judy passed this love to her daughters and was a proud member of The Wednesday Spinners. Family all wore socks, mittens, sweaters and hats made from love by our beautiful wife, mother, grandmother and mother-in-law. Judy was active in the theater for most of her life and acted and sang as well as watched many shows. Frequently she sang or whistled whenever happy and occasionally competed with the birds on that score. Judy was a passionate lover of animals and family lore is filled with stories of various critters she rescued and brought back to health. Many knew her passion for cooking and baking as she brought her sourdough bread to whatever gathering she attended. The perfect grandmother, Judy was known by her grandchildren as "GranSue" and she was indeed, GranSue to all.
Judy is survived by her husband of 62 years Pip, daughters Shari (Frank) and Jenny (Jim), brother Charles and sister Sharlene, grandchildren Victoria (Misha), Seeta, Hayden, Megan, Allison and Audrey, and great grandson Angus. She is predeceased by son Chip and grandson Nathaniel.
