Obituary of Lois Sharon Elwell
Lois Sharon Elwell, 71, of Augusta and Swanville passed away September 15, 2024, surrounded by her family and friends in her niece’s home. She was born on August 14, 1953 to Laurence and Julia (Bailey) Elwell at home in Swanville.
Lois moved to Augusta after graduating from Belfast Area High school in 1971. She worked at the University of Maine at Augusta, Digital Computers in Portland, and the Cooperative Ext. of University of Maine in South Portland. Lois loved the arts, music and theater. She herself was a gifted artist and crafter. She won ribbons and awards at fairs. She sold her artwork at many gift shops around the Augusta/Belfast area. ~Raised in Maine~
She had many a co-workers that turned into life-long friends or family. She cherished her time spent at “camp blender” with them. She would become the “keeper of memories” for all the stories of growing up on the farm. When she retired, she returned to Augusta. Lois will always be remembered as the "coolest Aunt ever”, her gift giving mystery boxes were the best.
She is survived by her brother David Elwell of Dixmont, a sister Dorothy Elwell of CT, and Arla Hall of Belfast. Many, many niece’s and nephew’s, her lifelong friends and soul sisters Joyce and Janie. She was predeceased by her parents and siblings; Gloria Millett, Ardith Millay, Lorene Bernosky, Clifford Elwell SR., and Carol Elwell.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, Sept. 25th,11:00AM at Kinney Cemetery, Brooks, Maine.
Donations may be made to the Cancer Society of Maine. Memories and condolences may be shared on her tribute wall.
