Obituary of Edwin Loring Ingraham Sr.

Edwin Loring Ingraham Sr., 88 years old, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, surrounded by his family on August 11, 2024, in Rockport, Maine.

Ed was born on May 19, 1936, in Camden, Maine to Edwin Leland Ingraham and Geneva Mary Marshall. He attended Rockland schools. Upon leaving school, Ed joined the Army in 1955, where he proudly served his country for 4 years. Having not completed high school, Ed returned to school and completed his high school diploma in his early 50’s, an accomplishment he worked hard for and was very proud of.

Ed worked for Penobscot Poultry in Belfast, Maine for over 30 years serving as foreman until he left to work at Quarry Hill. During his time at Penobscot Poultry, Ed took Adult Education classes earning a certificate as a Nurse’s Aide. He continued working at Quarry Hill until his retirement at the age of 72.

Ed is survived by his spouse, Sharon (Green) Ingraham, who he lovingly called Sha-Sha; daughter, Michele “Shelly” Lea & (Glenn) Carver; Edwin (Cappy) Loring & (Terri-Jean) Ingraham Jr.; Samuel “Sam” Paul & (Danielle) Ingraham; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister, Lealda Oxton; and numerous nieces and nephews along with a large extended family.

He is predeceased by his parents and five siblings.

Ed loved Jesus more than anything and enjoyed sharing Jesus with others. The most important things he would want all reading this to know is that Jesus loves you and for you to know Jesus!

Ed loved his family and worked hard to provide for them all his life. Always a ‘jokester” with a great sense of humor, you could expect a good ole “Dad” joke from time to time or perhaps a practical joke, like the time he literally made a “sponge” cake complete with chocolate frosting for his daughter-in-law, Danielle.

In his last couple of years, as he struggled more with health, Ed took great comfort from his cat, Itty Bitty. He never complained about the struggle, rarely spoke of the pain he was feeling, and appreciated the care he received from family and nurses.

Ed was deeply loved and will be dearly missed! “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” II Timothy 4:7

Celebration of Life will be held for family and friends on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at 1:00 PM at the House of Prayer, 13 Back Searsport Road Belfast, Maine. Internment to follow at Youngstown Cemetery in Lincolnville.
