Obituary of Roy Ellis Boothby

Roy Ellis Boothby 

1943-2024

Roy Ellis Boothby, age 80, Norridgewock Maine, passed away at Bella Point Assisted Living on June 11, 2024.  

Roy was born is Skowhegan, Maine on September 19, 1943 to Gurdon and Leah Boothby.  He has had many jobs over the years including owning a pool hall in Gardiner, driving for KVCAP in Skowhegan, and working in SeaBrook, New Hampshire at the Nuclear Power Plant.  Roy was a mechanic for over 20 years which was where he got his passion for automobiles and racing. He raced at Unity raceway in the 70’s where he took on the nickname “Rapid Roy the stock car boy”.  Roy lived in Fairfield Maine for many years where his children, Troy, Todd, Tim, and Shawn were raised.

Roy has 3 biological grandchildren:  Nathan Boothby, Tyler Boothby and Ava Boothby and 3 step-grandchildren:  Keagan Alley, Braden Alley, and Taylor Waning Roy was preceded in death by his parents Gurdon and Leah, and his son Troy and is survived by his son’s Tim, Todd and Shawn. 

A Celebration of life will be held at The Eagles club in Skowhegan on Sunday August 4th from 12-2pm.
