You used to call me your “goomba” and I would call you my “bub”. You were so silly and unbelievably playful and I cherished the way you shared that side of you that you didn’t show to many. You always had me wishing to learn more about you. Your honesty was bleak and your laughter was full. You challenged me to grow in new and uncomfortable ways and I came to trust our ability to work through hard moments together.
Your intelligence was breathtaking. Your dreams massive and usually water-filled; from apartment-sized aquariums to sailing around the world. Your connection to animals and the natural world so apparent. Your strength undeniable. Your heart was big yet closed to most. Your ability to find the best restaurants in unknown places, uncanny.
I will always think of you whenever I walk barefoot through the grass as you taught me how. I will always remember the day we simultaneously fell in love with the town of Belfast and decided to move here or the day we played frisbee for countless hours behind the farm. I will always imagine you fishing off the end of a dock in Maine.
My love,
Katelyn

Nick became one of my very dear friends over the years. He was always ready to try a new breakfast restaurant even when it was an hour drive (and he was likely to develop a crush on each and evey waitress). He was a good camping and hiking buddy. Most of all always ready to play any and all board games even if it took 3 hours to learn and 3 more hours to play. Nick was always generous toward his friends, he would offen show up to game nights with a fancy bottle of wine or an entire batch of home brewed Mead. He will be very missed.

Nick was a great friend and will be sincerely missed. His dry humor and sarcasm always created the best laughs. I met him ten years ago at the place to be at kcc i was terrified to go to this young adult group and he was one my first friends in Michigan.

My brother Nick was one of the most honest individuals I’ve ever met and also one of the wisest. But those qualities didn’t make him Nick Scott like his sense of humor did. One of my favorite memories of Nick was when Me, him and another was at church in a conversation about the great things God has done for us. This other guy was kind of a “one-upper” when it comes to stories. So me being me just let him proclaim the goodness of God and the miracle of how God let him drive to work and back all week while being on E at the start of the week. Nick eventually said. “Naw, no he didn’t” there was a silence then Nick followed up with “yeah man the didn’t happen” I looked at the guy and at Nick and we all including him starting laughing and he replied, You’re right but I didn’t get further than I thought I would. And it was then I knew I needed Nick as a friend. Nick would always come to every event and always was real. I pleaded and begged God to send me ppl that would be honest with me and help me grow and he sent Nick and for that I’m forever grateful. I Love and miss you bro!
Here’s a Facebook status of mines appreciating Nick.
So Nick Scott and Dwight, I'm starting to notice these 2 ppl I'm my life that almost once a week I get so much spiritual growth, brotherly love, and challenges from.. 2 ppl that ain't afraid to correct me and or encourage me... it's evident that God sends his presence when we get to talking with one another.. I see it now. I didn't choose them.. God did.
So for anyone who reads this do you have ppl in your life like this? Do you know who they are? Who has God put you around that seems to help ignite your passions or share them? Who tells you how bad you suck but wants the best for you? Who's being honest? These ppl should be able to make you angry like stir up emotions.. honestly they might disagree as much as agree with you..#Familylove #Godlove #Reallove I know ppl are easily offended and hurt so I will say there's many ppl in my life I love and help me and does what they do.. but I'm just calling it as it is. GOD gave me them for what he has for us.

I met Nick at "The Place to Be," young adult group with Kentwood community church. He was a good friend, someone who liked deep conversation and relationships with those who gained his trust. He gave great big hugs. He had big dreams and was determined to do something once he put his mind to it.
I remember spending one new year's day together wandering downtown Grand Rapids talking about our aspirations and eventually finding somewhere that was open to eat. Anything could turn into a mini adventure with him.
My deepest condolences to his family and closest friends, you have been in my thoughts and prayers. May God hold you close during this difficult time.

I met Nick at a young adult’s group “The Place to Be.” I wasn’t the most outgoing person, but Nick made an effort to get to know me. I loved talking to Nick, not just because he was friendly, but because he intrigued me. His perspective was always unique and he had a love for the little details. He saw things from a different viewpoint and often challenged my opinion. I love that he always kept it real.
Thanks for being you, Nick. You are greatly missed and not at all forgotten. Your laugh and sense of humor are ingrained in my memory. I’m “butt hurt” that I didn’t keep in touch with you these last few years. It sounds like you continued to make a lasting impact on the lives that you touched.

It would be unfair to say I really knew Nick. Our interactions were brief as he visited our tiny shop, often weekly, but he was always polite and kind and with a little bit of encouragement I’d learn more about him each time. I began to look forward to it. In a sea of faces, some people just stand out, some people leave us intrigued. That was Nick. There are different kinds of loss, for me it will be in sorts the loss of routine, the loss of opportunity to continue the growth of getting to know someone. It is expecting to see him walk through the door when a car like his pulls in, and the ungentle reminder that another story has ended too soon. My deepest condolences to all who had the pleasure of knowing him and those that didn’t.

It was such a joy to meet Nick and getting to know him as I used to cut his hair. He was the only guy I Accepted as a client for short hair and I’m glad I did. Our conversations were filled with laughter and genuine trust and care for one another. He was such a kind hearted & respectful person and I truly am thankful to have gotten to know him some. Rest easy Nick, and I hope you’re consumed with love, peace and freedom with Christ in heaven! Until we meet again in Gods glory! -Jora

My name is Nicole and I worked with Nick at the Waldo County General Hospital. Nick was our go to guy for supply needs and he was always willing to help.
I remember shortly after meeting him asking where he was from and being so happy to have a fellow Michigander around ( I grew up just outside of Grand Rapids myself).
Nick made an impact to there people around him with his kindness and personality. He will be greatly missed.
To his family and friends, the ones who loved him most, I am so sorry for your loss and I wish you love and light through this difficult time.

My name is Helen Doyle and I work at Waldo County General Hospital in Belfast, Maine. Nick always had a nice greeting for me saying, "Hey, how's it going", when ever we ran into each other at work. He's always been polite and pleasant. He was always ready to help when I needed supplies from his department.
Nick was one of the "Good Guys" and I will miss him.
I'm so very sorry for your loss.
