Sending my deepest condolences to all that knew and loved Leroy. I was one of his customers at Marys Barn. Leroy was always so welcoming and helpful. His shop was fun to look around, we always left with a new treasure.
Thank you Leroy for just being you!

I noticed Leroy's picture in the paper before I realized I was in the obituary section. My dearest condolences to his family. Our families did not know each other, I was merely a customer at Mary's Barn. However I went just as much for a little browse as I did for a chat with Leroy. And for the past year, my 5 yr old has been bringing in pocket change which Leroy was very patient with him learning to count to make his small purchases. When I told him Leroy had died, we went through our home and pointed out what we remembered came from his barn. Many favorites, but my son's is his very own wooden swivel desk chair that he paid for with loose change. Leroy was always offering to help me lift furniture even as recent as this winter, when my hands were full with my kids. His smile and kind eyes will live on in the memory of this one Swanville family to be sure.

Oh, Leroy, we'll miss your quiet smile and friendly jokes when we stopped by Mary's Oakhill Barn. You gave us years of pleasure as your Swanville friends and neighbors.
To Mary and your families we send heartfelt condolences for your loss. There will never be a better Mayor of Oak Hill Road.

I have stopped in on Leroy and Mary at least twice a month for many years. This has been very bad for my shopping habit and the amount of clutter in my home but the conversation and humor from Leroy was a big part of the draw. I will truly miss his kindness and good nature.

Leroy we miss you terribly, the kids and I always loved coming down and seeing you, I’ll never forget you always asking me how’s it going in Winterport and if I was staying out of trouble, so many great memories.

Oh Leroy, I will miss you terribly. My mom, Diane, began visiting Mary’s Oak Hill Barn with me in tow at a very young age. If you needed a chair, you went to Leroy’s. If you needed a vintage lamp or a glass pitcher for lemonade, you went to Leroy’s. If it was Sunday, you went to Leroy’s. As I aged, I still kept visiting the barn to keep myself stocked with odds and ends. You let me roam free and wild to dig and explore and then usually refused any money in return for a car load of treasures. You helped me out of jams a time or two or twelve. You fathered two of my dearest friends and sisters, Felicia and Leticia. You always had a twinkle in your eye and candy bar at your desk. You trained me to bring hot chocolate and cookies whenever I visited. In fact, I was trying to organize my cupboard the other day and I found a box of your hot chocolate waiting for my next drive to Belfast. Today I don’t know how to put into words the value that you brought to my life. You are forever special to me. Your memory and smile and gentle teasing will forever be imprinted upon me. I love you Leroy. I’m gonna miss the hell out of you.

So many fond memories of when I was younger and they lived on Doak Road. Spent many nights/weekends there. Was like another father figure in my life. When I worked at Truitt Brothers as a teenager, he picked me up for work and took me home. As years past saw him at Marys barn, always so caring and asking how I have been. So much more I could say about this man, but the most important thing that sticks out he always made me feel like family.

I was very happy to have spent years going to Oak Hill Barn to see Leroy. If Mary and Leroy were not their you could leave a note and go back and pay them the next time They always were so great to help people that didn't have much as you could always find something.

I often think of all the great times we had in Boy Scouts. Between Loren Robert’s Jr and myself we tormented the younger guys and the scout master’s all in good fun. We may have even pulled the braces for the tent out a time or two. He knew who did it……Super guy to have given back through Boy Scouts. Much respect Leroy. You were a great guy! Chris Colby
