Obituary of Phyllis J. Grotton
Phyllis Grotton, our Mom, Gram and Gigi left suddenly in the evening of March 7, 2024, after a brief illness and a life full of love.
She was born August 16, 1938. Phyllis spent her life living it to the fullest. She has always been active cooking, gardening and canning to feed a large family early on to flower gardening present day. She competed in canoe races with family and friends when she was younger and then she fell in love with kayaking. Camping was something she always enjoyed doing especially at The Pines but also traveling out west with her friend Don Beckwith. Her favorite holiday was Christmas and her house was decorated inside and out, everyone was invited to her annual Christmas Party including this past Christmas. No matter what, if she could do nothing else, she loved to go shopping.
Going before her were her parents Warren & Alice Merchant, former husband Nathan Collemer, husband and great love Donald Grotton Sr, special friend and partner Frank (Ike) Escancy, son Danny Grotton and special son in law Harold Tower.
Surviving and remembering her are her children: Gloria & Ken Seekins, Donald & Sandy Grotton, Mike & Darlene Collemer, Dawn Tower & her partner Keith, Debbie Collemer, Douglas Grotton and Wanda Grotton. Her grandchildren: Carrie & Alex Robinson, Mandy Wood, Stephanie & Larry Towns, Donny Grotton, Wayne & Tina Grotton, Joe & Cassandra Grotton, Christina & Jason Whitmore. There are numerous great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren that she loved with her whole huge heart.
In her long life she had many that she brought into her home and family that don’t fit into the categories above. There were a couple that were especially close to her, Sally Simonton, Angela Simonton and Sandra LaRocque. There are many more we could list here whom she loved and was loved, we hope you all know that.
A celebration of her life will be held on Sunday March 24, 2024 at 1 pm at the Searsmont Community Center.
