Obituary of Elaine M. Joseph

Elaine M. Joseph, 77 of Belfast, passed away peacefully with her family by her side, on February 22, 2024.  Elaine was born on October 26, 1946, to Robert and Doris (Hunnewell) Keene in Ashland, Maine where she grew up and attended local schools. In 1969 Elaine married Thomas Joseph and shortly after they moved to Belfast to start their family.  Elaine worked at Stinson Canning for many years until her retirement, and it was there that she met some of her best lifelong friends. Elaine was a member of both the Belfast and State of Maine Degree of Pocahontas.

Elaine loved her family and friends and was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Her greatest accomplishment was raising her children. She enjoyed family reunions, visiting with friends (especially Pat, Joyce, Rose, Sissie, and Gloria), Sunday dinners, and listening to her husband play his guitar. Elaine was an avid reader and enjoyed working on family history and staying in touch with family and friends near and far through her computer. Dedicated Red Sox fans, Elaine and her husband rarely missed watching a game together.

Elaine is pre-deceased by her parents; brothers, Ernest, Linden, John, and Royace Keene; sisters, Evelyn Reece, Edith Langer, and Irene Keene; and her loving husband of 50 years, Thomas Joseph Sr.

Surviving are her two sons, Tom Joseph and his wife Cindy of Morrill, Maine; Frank Joseph and his wife Rhoge of Northport, Maine; daughter Amanda (Joseph) Weaver and husband Micheal of Waldo, Maine; grandchildren Zachary Joseph, Kelsey Joseph, Cali Joseph, Savannah Springer, Brody Weaver, Rohan Joseph, Silas Weaver and Malachi Weaver; great-grandchildren, Serenity and Thomas Joseph. She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Chris Keene, Betty Joseph, and Marilyn Jones; brother-in-law, Leonard Sabattis and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff at Waldo County General Hospital for the compassionate care and support provided to their mom.

A graveside service with a gathering of friends and family will be announced later in the Spring.
