Bill White was my friend. He was funny and bright and he helped me pass math class. Bill and I were baseball buddies. On Saturday afternoons, we took over my parents' living room, eating pizza and watching the Game of the Week on television. Bill was all Yaz and the Red Sox; I was Bobby Murcer and the Yankees. We had fun.
I will remember summers when Bill and I worked together at Grove Cemetery; I will remember the two of us as wide-eyed freshman at the University of Maine; I will remember Bill and I - candlepin veterans - taking my younger sister bowling and getting crushed by her; I will remember when Bill introduced me to Transcendental Meditation, a gift that I cherish daily, nearly 50 years on.
Thanks for everything, Bill. Safe journey my friend.
