Obituary of Richard L. Fickett
Richard “Rick” Lee Fickett, Jr., 66, passed away suddenly on July 9, 2023. He was born in Bangor, Maine, lived in Lubec, ME, and relocated with his parents to Middletown, CT during his childhood. Rick enlisted in the U.S. Army in January 1977, and served honorably through January 1980. Rick was proud to be a veteran and was a true patriot. Rick returned to CT after his service where he resided in the Middletown/Cromwell/Portland areas for most of his life. Rick worked as a Clamp Truck Operator for many years where he ultimately retired from Stone Container in Portland, CT. Rick and his wife, Millie (Demoranville) Fickett, moved from Cromwell, CT to Montville, ME, in 2015, where Rick has been creating the log cabin-style home that he had dreamt of for years. Rick loved living in Maine where he was able to play with his various toys ie: ATV, tractor, trucks and antique vehicles. He enjoyed fishing, listening to his classic rock, and strumming on his numerous guitars that he owned.
Rick leaves behind 3 lovely daughters, Samantha and her husband, Ken Cote of Cromwell, CT., Kahley Fickett and her boyfriend, Kyle Leineke of East Hampton, and Alexa and her husband, Adam Warzecha of Portland. As well as three grandchildren, Ava, Emma and Michael. Additionally, he leaves behind a sister, Cathy Fickett of Rocky Hill, CT., a brother , Tommy Fickett and his wife, Suzanne of Portland, CT., and a sister, Donna Carta and her husband, Rick of Haddam, CT. , as well as numerous nieces and nephews, many in-laws, and special friends. Additionally, Rick leaves behind his Uncle Julian Fickett and his cousin, Loring Munson, both of Lubec, ME. Rick was pre-deceased by his parents, Richard Lee Fickett, Sr. and Elizabeth Francis Fickett, and sisters, Kim Carty and Sonia Johnson.
Riposta Funeral Home will be handling the cremation services which were Rick’s wishes, where his remains will ultimately be brought back to Lubec, ME. A private memorial service will be held.
