Obituary of Josephine M. Seekins
Josephine M. (Parker) Seekins, 91, passed away August 4th, 2022 at Frankfort Assisted Living, where she had lived since 2017.
She was born October 21st, 1930 in Frankfort to Arlene (Hustus) Parker and George Parker Sr. She married Clyde Seekins on August 1st, 1948, and moved to North Searsport where they built a house and raised chickens. Together they had six children and enjoyed square dancing and snowmobiling.
Josephine could be found at any time with a crochet hook in her hand, making hundreds of hats, afghans, and doilies. She also loved making cakes for various loved one’s weddings, birthdays, and baby showers. Skip-Bo cards were never far out of reach, as she was up for a game at a moments notice, right up to a week before her passing.
She was predeceased by her husband Clyde in 1970; her parents, Arlene and George Parker Sr.; mother- and father-in-law Jessie and George Seekins; daughters Helen Gum and Jane Jewell; daughter-in-law Sue Seekins; son-in-law Bruce Chipman; grandson Arthur Farnham; great-granddaughter Ashley Seekins; brother Alvin Parker and wife Gerry; brother Stewart Parker and wife Lynda; sister Gertrude Clewley and husband Raymond; sister Ruth Puglisi and husband Carmen; sister Gloria Dunroe and husband Tommy; brothers-in-law Ike Sullivan and Reginald Cole; and sister-in-law Gail Parker.
Josephine is survived by sons Melvin Seekins and very special daughter-in-law, Cindy Seekins; David Seekins Sr.; and Mike Seekins; daughter Kelly Chipman and fiancé Doug Chadbourne; sons-in-law Allan Gum and Ralph Jewell; grandchildren Laurie, Julie, Lisa, Jennifer, Ricky, John, Andy, Denise, Robin, David Jr., Dwayne, Katie, Kevin, MeLinda, Jaymi, Matt, Ryan, several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; brothers Charles Parker and wife Kathy; George Parker Jr. and wife Patty; Philip Parker; sisters Madeline Sullivan and Poly Cole; as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family would like to express many thanks to the staff at Frankfort Assisted Living and Kindred Hospice, who helped take care of "Josie" in her final days. All the love shown by these ladies helped make things easier during this difficult time.
A graveside service will be held at Greenlawn Cemetery, in Swanville, ME, on August 28th, 2022, at 3:00 PM.
