Obituary of John Francis McGowan

John Francis McGowan; died April 5th, 2022. He was born August 26th, 1953 in Calais, Maine. He was the oldest son of Horace O, and Theresa McGowan (McDonald). John graduated from Camden-Rockport High School in 1972. He also graduated from EMVTI in 1974 with his degree in business. John worked for Epstein’s in Searsport and Kallis Ford in Belfast for many years as well as Viking Lumber until he retired in 2018. John was well known in the community for his years of service volunteering at the lion’s club. He loved Helping others in any way he could. Helping his community was important to John. Many fond memories tagging along at bingo and helping at the Lion’s club. If you were ever on Mt. Ephraim road, you probably saw him mowing the lawn or gardening. He enjoyed being outdoors. Most of all John loved his family. He was very proud of the McGowan name and strived to live up to it. His very large family have many fond memories of his celebrated august birthday parties, friends and relatives came to celebrate each other, make music, eat and enjoy. He will be missed and the memories are cherished from all who knew him. John was predeceased by his parents, brothers Timmy, Billy and Buddy, as well as his sister Mary McGowan. He is survived by his daughter Lyndsey and granddaughters Mackenzie and Daphne. Brothers Robert and wife Ann and Peter; sisters Roseanne, Joanne, Patty, Lynda and husband Ben, Katie and husband Troy, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Celebration of life will be held Saturday April 23rd from 12 to 2 pm at Riposta Funeral Home. Memories and condolences may be shared at ripostafh.com.
