Obituary of Joyce A. Thompson
KNOX
JOYCE THOMPSON passed away peacefully on October 29, 2021 at her home in Knox.
Joyce was a graduate of Mount View High School. She enjoyed working at a group home in her younger years. Joyce went on to work as a bank teller and then as a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. After retiring, she had more time to enjoy her true passion - crafts. She was a talented seamstress and quilt maker. Joyce could knit or crochet anything, and she enjoyed teaching these skills to anyone who wanted to learn. She also enjoyed painting, paper crafts and photography. Aside from crafts, Joyce was always happy to spend time with her family and friends. She appreciated opportunities to go out and "get a bite to eat" whenever she could.
Joyce is predeceased by her parents, Freddie and Violet Bailey; her brother Sydney "Sonny" Bailey and her husband James Thompson. Joyce is survived by her step-sons, Steve and Skip Thompson and their families; her sister-in-law Donna Bailey, her niece Rebecca Furrow and her husband Jody; her nephew Michael Bailey and his girlfriend Lisa Hubbard; her niece Janie Gerrish and her husband Shane as well as many great nieces and nephews, cousins and her beloved cat "Abby".
Joyce requested a simple graveside service which will be held on Thursday November 4, 2021 at the Peasant Hill Cemetery in Freedom. Memories and condolences may be shared on this tribute wall.
