Bruce was our mailman for years and he and our autistic son Zach remained friends even after. Bruce was such a kind big hearted man. We would walk by his house and our son would sit and talk with Bruce on his front porch. Our son insisted on mowing his lawn to help Bruce out. Our son is crushed he adored Bruce. We are so sorry for his family. What a huge loss!

I had assumed that Bruce would have been the last of us still standing. Years of camping with Troop 16 together,,,, years in church at Starrett Memorial,,, Bruce’s dad’s soft voice letting us know we could do better,,,, Bruce chuckling and laughing,,, someone putting a can of baked beans unopened on the campfire,,,, beans dripping from the tree limbs,,, we had a lot of innocent fun. Walking around Union Street with Bruce while he delivered newspapers. Thanks for the beautiful remembrance placed in the Athol Daily News. It warmed my heart to read it,

I am so in shock to hear of Bruce’s passing. Not only was he a great supervisor at the Orange Post Office , where I worked with him for 12 years. He was a great neighbor and friend. I would have loved to visit in Maine and see his farm that he and his wife built together. He was a generous man and very thoughtful. I’ll never forget the time he brought his new puppy to our house to share with us the cuteness of this beautiful animal.
We had many good times at The Orange Post Office where we all celebrated each other’s birthdays and we all really got Bruce good one Birthday with the surprise of a Mountain Cake with him at the top and also a visit from Trevor The Games Man on Stilts! Also the time he Dressed up like ELVIS and practiced very hard to surprise Wendy and Me for our very close 50th Birthdays !!! We all had some great times together! He was a very talented guy that built some great hardwood floors and staircase that totally impressed me, I am still waiting for my husband to build my hardwood staircase. Because once I saw Bruce and Kathy’s I just had to have one. When he was getting ready to retire we all contributed our favorite recipes and I put together a cookbook for him to take to his new farm in Maine. Also the WhiteWater Rafting trip we all took together as a work family was just so much fun! Just so many great times ! I’ll never forget the time you rushed me to the Athol Hospital because I was faint and very bad dizzy spells .... I’ll always be so indebted to you for taking me there.. they ended up having to life-flight me to Another Hospital in Worcester... You definitely will always be remembered and so missed our friend. May you fly high with your loved ones that went on before you. Many blessings , hugs and prayers to Bruce’s family .Please know how deeply saddened Keith and I are and know that your Bruce will never be forgotten. He was truly a wonderful human being! Rest In Peace.
With heartfelt Sympathy ,
Annie n Keith Colturi

So very sorry to hear of Bruce passing. worked with him for years at the orange post office. He was always a very calm person but he was also a jokster. Had many good times with him. He was not only a supervisor but also a great friend who would do anything for you. I am so glad i got a visit from him in May. We reminissed about old times and he spoke of his family which meant the world to him. I feel very blessed to have known him. We are still in shock to learn of Bruce’s passing. He had a contagious laugh, a smile a mile wide and oh yes…quite a jokester. The many years that Peter worked along side Bruce were some of his best years. They complimented each other. I loved to talk Swedish goodies with Bruce and share recipes. Bruce was a kind and genuine human being and got Peter to do more things in his later part of life than he did when he was younger. One was to accomplish Mt. Washington in February on Washington birthday. A feat he will never forget. Also, paddling in the River Rat Race. Peter and I send our heartfelt condolences to all of you. God Bless Bruce’s soul. Heaven has absolutely gained an Angel!

Words can't express how deeply saddened I am having learned of Bruce's passing. Bruce was a kind and generous man who never wavered from his sense of friendship and support of friends, co-workers, and most of all family. Having worked with Bruce and as his peer, his guidance and calming demeanor always made difficult situations seem less critical. To Kathy and family, on behalf of my wife and I, please except our condolences and best wishes.

I had the pleasure of working with Bruce at the Unity Post Office for 2 years. He always came to work with a smile. Never complained about anything and was always a great sounding board when I needed to vent about what upper management was doing at that time. He understood the issues of being a postmaster, the good and the bad. He kept us smiling with stories from the farm, family, or before he retired from the PO. I will always remember his smile and his amazing outlook on pretty much everything. My condolences to Kathy and the rest of the family. Heaven gained a special one.
