Please share a memory of David to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
David L. Clements, passed away May 20,2021 at his home surrounded by family and loved ones. He was born March 20, 1939, the oldest son of Esther N. Clements and Leoren (Lo) Clements of Searsport. David was a life long resident of Belfast. In his early years, David worked in many areas of the workforce including young’s lobster pound, Searsport Docks, as a custodian at Crosby Junior High, and numerous other jobs throughout his life. Later on he worked at WCCSA as a carpenter for the weatherization program and also as an Energy Auditor for Waldo County before retiring in 2001. David served his country in the army national guard for 6 1/2 years and served an additional year in the Air Force national guard based at Dow Air Force base in Bangor, Me. David was a “Jack of all trades” and everyone’s go-to guy for help around the house, be it electrical, plumbing, carpentry, you name it, he could do it. He amazed many by his self-taught piano skills, and his ability to capture the attention of the room as soon as he sat down to play. He had the ultimate green thumb. His garden was his pride and joy. All of his grandchildren spent countless hours in the garden with him eating his exquisitely grown cherry tomatoes until their bellies were sore. He loved doing jig-saw puzzles and loved to watch Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy with the love of his life, they never missed an episode. David’s smile and kind eyes will be remembered by anyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. His heart was pure gold. He was a faithful Christian and put the lord first. His last days were spent surrounded by his family, reading comforting Bible scriptures and singing songs. David was at peace knowing this was his last chapter here on earth, and looked forward to eternal life with our lord. David was pre-deceased by his mom and dad, Leoren and Esther Clements. He was survived by his wife of 42 years Sharon Clements and their seven children from a “blended” family. Linda Ryan of Augusta, Julie Hilliard and Gary of Belgrade. Sharon Merry and husband John of Swanville, Roxanne Cummings of Belfast, Travis Hurd of Belfast, Trevor Hurd of Surry, and Rhonda Hurd of Belfast, his brother Larry Clements and wife Kathy of Belfast, eleven grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, 29 nieces and nephews. Celebration of Life will be held 1pm on June 5, 2021 at Faith Temple Church on Rt. 52 Belfast with Bishop Rick Stoops officiating. Flowers may be sent to the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may also be sent to the First United Pentecostal church, 8 Wilson Court, Augusta, ME 04330 or Faith Temple Church 189 Lincolnville Ave., 04915
