Obituary of John Kennedy

John J. Kennedy of Windham, Maine passed away suddenly on March 11, 2021. He was 50 years old. He was born to Frederick and Florence (Bailey) Kennedy on April 25, 1970, in Elmira, New York. In 1999, John relocated to Maine with his family. In Maine, John dedicated his life to raising his two daughters, Hannah and Emilie. John’s daughters were his whole world. He loved them with his entire heart. After his granddaughter Ayla was born, John’s role as a grandfather quickly became an important part of his world. John was a proud father and grandfather. John worked with Sprague Energy and was previously employed with Sysco. John also maintained his own landscaping business. John was an avid and active member of several local social clubs including the Portland, Windham, and Gray Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Loyal Order of the Moose in Scarborough. While in his youth, John played baseball, wrestled, and was a member of the Boy Scouts. As an adult, John continued to participate in activities which brought him great joy including playing darts, golf, and horseshoes. He received numerous trophies, championships, and recognitions for his participation. John also enjoyed grilling and watching NASCAR. Throughout his life, John touched the lives of countless others. John was selfless and caring. He did not hesitate to help others, often doing so without being asked and without complaint. John had a kind heart. John was a natural problem solver. He found a solution for everything. His presence, laid-back nature, and smile would light up an entire room. John’s favorite days were spent behind the grill, surrounded by those he cared for and loved. John was predeceased by his father, Frederick Kennedy, and dear friend, Roland Thibodeau. He is survived by his mother, Florence (Bailey) Kennedy, his two daughters Hannah and Emilie Kennedy, his granddaughter Ayla Bryant, his twin brother, Joseph Kennedy (Brenda), his sisters Deborah and Shari Kennedy, his ex-wife Denise Evans, his dog Baby, several nieces and nephews, and countless other friends and family members. John was tremendously loved and respected. He will be greatly missed by many.
