Obituary of Janice M. Emerson
BELFAST
JANICE M. EMERSON, 86, passed away October 26, 2020 at Harbor Hill in Belfast. She was born in Monroe, Maine on December 6, 1933 to Jasper and Mildred (Smith) Curtis. She graduated from Monroe High School and worked at local shoe shops, Maplewood Poultry and in food service at the Searsport school district where she always enjoyed being known as the "lunch lady".
For many years Janice was a homemaker who loved family picnics, baking and always had time for her grand-babies. She was a caring mother who made many sacrifices herself so her kids would not go without. Janice enjoyed nights out dancing with her twin sister, Joyce and sister Evelyn.
Janice is survived by seven children, Brenda Brown and significant other Fred, Bonnie and husband Mel Box, Rhonda "Jean" and husband Kevin Lyga, Cindy Emerson, Jim Emerson, Tim Emerson and wife Holly, Steve Emerson and significant other Heather St. Clair. She is also survived by her sisters Evelyn Porter, her twin sister Joyce Bunker and sister-in-law, Brenda Pooler; 11 grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her sister Arlene Porter and brother Ernest McKague.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Harbor Hill Activities Fund, 2 Footbridge Road, Belfast, ME 04915. Many thanks to the staff at Harbor Hill for their wonderful care she received over the past few years. Special thanks to Peggy for always putting a smile on Janice's face.
Family and friends are invited to visitation from 11-12pm on Thursday October 29, 2020 at Riposta Funeral Home 182 Waldo Ave. Belfast a graveside burial will follow at 1 pm at Monroe Village Cemetery. Memories and condolences may be shared at ripostafh.com.
