For 18+ years it was me,mom & dad. Scott, Shellie, Stacie, Aunt Nita & Uncle Fred. Then my grandparents next to them. All in one little valley. For 18+ years we saw each other almost every day. Sometimes that was too much. Other times it was still not enough. Uncle Fred seemed to be really strict when all the kids were little. I didn't know all the things he did. We just did our little kid things. I remember that he would tear out of the driveway in his beige pick-up truck with the red light on & the siren blazing. I just wondered what the rush was! Now, as an adult I understand better. He did many things to help many people. The reason I didn't know when I was younger is because he didn't feel the need to brag about what he did. In fact, he always kept quiet about it. That was a good quality that he had. He loved to help those in need, and kept the spotlight off of himself while doing it. Above all, above the help, above the work, above everything, for 52 years & counting he'll always be my Uncle Fred. Family forever close, no matter how far apart we are in distance.
