Obituary of Cheryl Ann Mattson

Cheryl Ann (Clark) Mattson – February 18, 1954 – January 29, 2020 Cheryl was an amazingly caring woman who loved to travel, loved her family and had a huge soft spot for animals. While she was born in Bangor and raised in the surrounding area, Cheryl wanted to see more of the world. Throughout her life, she travelled as often as possible while working up to three jobs at a time to ensure her daughter, Heather, always had a beautiful home while growing up. After Heather graduated high school, Cheryl bought the Cookbook Café in Seattle, Washington and turned it into an award-winning neighborhood hotspot that she eventually sold after many years of success. She then moved to Las Vegas, NV in 2000 where she met John Sheckells who spoiled her every chance he got. Early last year, Cheryl lost John and moved back to Maine to live with her father, Merland Clark, and daughter, Heather Carnes. Cheryl has been battling ovarian cancer for 15 years and finally succumbed on Wednesday, January 29. Cheryl is survived by her father Merland Clark and daughter Heather Carnes of Burnham, Maine; as well as her brothers, David Clark of Marlboro, MA, and Robert Clark of Houston, TX. We will all miss the sunshine and beauty she brought into our lives. In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial donation in Cheryl’s name to the Bangor Humane Society at 693 Mt. Hope Ave. Bangor, ME 04401 or https://www.bangorhumane.org/donate-ways-to-give/
