Obituary of Alan L. Hillman
Alan Lynn Hillman, 59 of Lincolnville, passed away surrounded by family on December 18, 2019 in Belfast. Alan was born to Leslie and Alma Hillman on August 23, 1960 in Oelwein, Iowa. He grew up on the family farm in Iowa and moved to Maine over 30 years ago.
Alan wrestled and graduated class of 1978 at Starmont High School in Strawberry Point, Iowa. After graduation he attended Fort Dodge Community College earning a degree in Law Enforcement. After graduation, he worked for United Express Airline in several different cities in the Midwest and Pennsylvania. Upon moving to Maine, Alan worked for a short time at Windsor Chairmakers and eventually began working with wood as a carpenter and handy man, which is what he truly enjoyed. Alan loved and appreciated nature, draft horses, hiking to waterfalls with family, exploring old cemeteries, planting trees and flowers and collecting antique pyrography.
Alan was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Bruce and Lois Hillman; by his maternal grandparents Everett and Katie Loomis and by his brother-in-law Eric York. Alan’s quiet and thoughtful presence will be missed by his surviving and loving parents, Leslie and Alma Hillman; his sister, Beth York of Belfast and brother Scott Hillman of Plano, TX; his nieces and nephews, Nicholas York and wife Eileen, Ericka York and her fiancé Ryan Baker, Morgan York and Zachariah Hillman; his great nephew Aaron York and his special friends, Rex and Karen, Cindy and Mike, Joan, Brian and Becky and Vincent.
A Spring memorial service will be announced later. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Alan’s family.
