To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Jean Lawler, please visit Tribute StoreJean Ann Lawler, 83, of Belfast, peacefully passed away on the morning of Saturday, December 14, 2019, surrounded by her loving family. Jean was born on November 27, 1936 in Belfast to the late Carolyn Davis and Lloyd Cooper. Jean was raised by her maternal grandparents, Robert, Sr. and Margaret Clements. She and her sister Berdena spent their childhood living on the 40-acre homestead in Waldo and attended Belfast schools.
Jean married young and devoted her entire life to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was the embodiment of the word “mother”. She overcame many obstacles to lovingly raise and support her five children almost single handedly, at times working three separate jobs. She never missed the chance to be present for birthdays, graduations, and all important family events. Later in life Jean was fortunate to benefit from the support and love of three sisters, Pamela, Charlotte and Andrea.
Jean was pre-deceased by her grandparents Robert, Sr. and Margaret Clements of Waldo; her mother Carolyn and husband Sherman Sr. Davis of Belfast; her father Lloyd Cooper of Gray: her brother Sherman Davis, Jr. of California; her sister Berdena Seekins of Searsport; and her infant daughter, Jeanette Lee Berry.
Jean Ann is survived by her sister Rhonda Scribner and husband Sumner of Belfast; her children: Richard Berry Jr. of Waldo; Randolph Berry and his wife Lynne, of Swanville; Linda Drinkwater and her husband Daniel of Swanville; Daniel Berry; and David Berry and Debbie Bernosky of Belfast. Jean also leaves behind many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Her adoring grandchildren include: Brandi Farnsworth and husband Josh; Amanda Morse and husband Chris; Kayla Levesque and husband Jeff; Brandon Drinkwater and wife Courtney; Courtney Jean Drinkwater; Jessica Berry; and David Berry, Jr.
Jean’s children, Randy and Linda, would like to thank Lori Hemingway, Nursing Director at The Commons at Tall Pines in Belfast, as well as their entire care team, for the exceptional and loving care provided to their mother as she struggled with progressive dementia.
Services will be held at Belfast United Methodist Church on Mill Lane in Belfast on Saturday December 21, 2019 at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Jean’s memory to the Belfast United Methodist Church. Memories and condolences may be offered to the family at www.ripostafh.com.
