Obituary of Ola M. Ryan

OLA M. RYAN, 79 of Northport, died March 15,2009 at Maine Medical Center in Portland. She was born in Belfast on May 21, 1929 to Charles and Margaret (Macleod) Simmons. She worked at Waldo County Hospital X-Ray Department before getting married. She and her husband Ray Ryan ran Ray and Ola’s Sweetshop for many years in Belfast before retiring to help their two sons build their new homes. She loved her family and made holidays special, not just for her immediate family, but also for the extended family as well. Her home was always open for family and friends. She enjoyed having a flower and small vegetable garden. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband Raymond Ryan Jr., two brothers, Royce and Roye “Buster” Simmons; one sister Diane Bieske. Ola is survived by two sons, William Ryan and his companion Linda Price of Northport; Robert Ryan Sr. and his wife Diana of Northport; two sisters, Marie “Jackie” Hooper and her husband Doug of Belfast; Elizabeth “Betty” Cyr and her husband Robert of Hampden; a half-sister Sandra Lenfest of Waldo; one sister-in-law Angelia Simmons of Brooks; four grandchildren, Chelsea Resmini and her husband John of Belfast; Shannon Ryan and her boyfriend Ben Buxton of Union; Robert Ryan Jr. and his fiancé Megan Robinson of Morrill; Angela Ryan of Belfast and her fiancé Andy of Mt. Vernon; two great-grandchildren, Cole and Jaci Resmini; many nieces, nephews, many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law in her husband’s family. She will be dearly missed by Barbara Ellis, Jonathan Keene, her Wednesday girls’ coffee group and the Saturday night dancing friends. Funeral services will be held 6 p.m. March 28th at Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Avenue, Belfast.
