Obituary of William Grosser

William "Bill" J. Grosser, 72, of Liberty passed away Wednesday September 23, 2009 at his residence. He was born on March 20, 1937 in Portland, the son of Harold and Margaret (Murphy) Grosser. In his earlier years he was a Waldo County Deputy. He retired in 1998 from the State Police dispatch. Bill was a longtime member of many Masonic Groups including the Liberty Lodge#111, Lodge #102 in Brooks, Waldo County Chapter #7, Palestine Commandery, Knights Templar, Anah Shrine Temple, Waldo County Shrine Club, and the Arbutus Chapter #19 Order of the Eastern Star. He enjoyed woodworking and loved his grandchildren very much. He is predeceased by his parents, and step-father Charles Brown, and sister Sandra Harding. Bill is survived by his loving wife of almost 34 years, Diane Grosser of Liberty; daughter Natalie Freeman and husband Edward of Knox; his siblings Elizabeth Ratten of Fountain Inn, South Carolina, Dianne Winkley of Windsor; grandchildren Joshua Freeman of Montville, Chantrelle Stevens and husband Scott of Oxford, Ian Freeman and wife Jamie of Fort Bragg, North Carolina; great grandchildren Devyn, Dakota, Yvonne Freeman; several nieces, nephews and many special friends. Memorial service will be held Monday September 28, 2009 at 10:00 am at Liberty Baptist Church with a private interment to follow at Maine Veterans Cemetery.
