Obituary of June M. Mitchell

June M. Mitchell, 89, resident of Kennebunk Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Kennebunk died October 29, 2009. June was born in Montville, Maine April 9th 1920. June graduated from Frankfort High School. June was a very caring and generous person. She cared for her mother and four younger siblings at age 19 while she was working in a shoe shop in Gardiner. She joined the WAAC in 1942 soon after WWII broke out. She was stationed in London while the city was being bombed by the Germans and was in the second echelon going into France. After the war she went back to school earning her Medical Laboratory Technicians degree from MIT. She is preceded in death by her mother Bessie W. Mitchell of Augusta, ME, her father Charles A. Mitchell Sr. of Frankfort, ME, and her siblings: Marion Mitchell of Morrill, ME, Alice M. Weston of Gardiner, ME, Violet Clark of Belfast, ME, Donna L. Mitchell of Port St. Lucie, FL, Charles A. Mitchell Jr. of Frankfort, ME, Harold L. Mitchell of Freedom, ME and Marie H. Mitchell of Scarborough, ME. She is survived by her siblings, Annie L. Davis of Portland, ME, Elmin H. Mitchell of Montville, ME, Leon O. Mitchell of Prairieville, LA and Joyce E. Gregoire of Bloomfield, CT. Visiting hours will be held at the Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home on Sunday, November 1st from 6-8 p.m. Services will be held in the new chapel in the Veterans’ Cemetery, Mt. Vernon Road in Augusta on Monday, November 2nd at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers please make donations in memory of June to the St Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, TN.
