Obituary of Donald J. Richardson
DONALD J. RICHARDSON, went home to be with his heavenly father and family December 15, 2009. He passed away at Eastern Maine Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born in Orono Maine in 1931 and grew up in Hope, Maine, part of a large family of six boys and six girls whom he dearly loved. In his younger years he was a woodsman and worked with his Dad. He joined the Air Force during the Korean War and after came home to meet the love of his life, Patricia. They married in 1957 and have shared 52 years of wonderful memories together. Donald was a devoted husband and father who always put family and friends before himself. He worked at Jack’s Grocery for many years and was devoted to going to work every day. He had many friend whom he enjoyed seeing daily at Jack’s.
He was predeceased by his mother and father, Alonzo and Eunice Richardson; two sister, Ruth Meehan and Marh Shepley; one brother, Blaine Richardson and a son-in-law Edward J. Scott Jr. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Patricia H. Richardson; three children, Dawn Richardson and partner Donna Salatka of Northport, Michael Richardson and wife Joan of Lincolnville, Julie Bonin and husband Michael of Dixmont; five grandchildren who held a special place in his heart, Megan Richardson and partner Josh Lemay, Lindsey Richardson and partner Nick Day, Sam Richardson, Ross Bonin and wife Ariel and Brennen Bonin and wife Michele; four sisters and four brothers, Margaret and husband Raymond Collemer, Louise and husband Bill Carlton, Beatrice and husband John Pasley, Emily and husband Hoyt Haney, Jack Richardson and wife Muriel, Butch Richardson and wife Donna, Paul Richardson and wife Pat and Ralph Richardson; many nieces, nephews and a special friend, Al Salvatore who looked out for Donald. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
At his request, there will be no funeral service. A remembrance gathering will be held February 27th at 3 p.m. at Waldo County Shrine Club, Northport Avenue, Belfast.
