Obituary of Ellizabeth Starre Wright
Elizabeth Starre Wright, 72, beloved mother and friend, died surrounded by friends and family at Redington Fairview General Hospital, Sunday, September 19, 2010. She was born February 20, 1938, the eldest of four children in Presque Isle, Maine, to Inez and Graydon Wright.
She grew up in Canaan, Me, attended Skowhegan High School and graduated from Carnegie Institute of Boston with a degree in Laboratory Technology. She later attended Kennebec Valley Technical College for her Associates Degree in Medical Technology and went on to earn her Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology. Elizabeth spent most of her life in Canaan raising her four children.
Elizabeth went on to teach Medical Technology at RFG, where she also worked for thirty years. After an early retirement, she began a second career working with Developmentally Disabled Adults for SKILLS, Inc.
Elizabeth loved flowers, bird watching and spending time by the sea. She was extremely close to her grandchildren and will be missed by the many people whose lives she touched. At various times she opened her home to women in need and led several women’s groups in the area. She was also a long time student of “A Course in Miracles.”
Elizabeth is survived by her sister, Norma Hall of Montpelier, VT and her brothers Ronald Wright of Clinton and Paul Wright and his wife Jean of Scarborough; Daughters Rachel Wright of Maui, HI, Tracey Alsop and her husband, Brian Richmond, of East Madsion, ME. Amy le Blanc and her husband Andy le Blanc of Canaan, ME and her son, Ira Eads of Waterville, ME; Ellen and John Alsop of East Madison; Cody, Elizabeth, Jacob and Wyatt Eads of Waterville Me, Aaron and Abigail le Blanc of Canaan ME. Elizabeth is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the nursing staff at RFGH for the care their mother received in the last year of her life and express their deep gratitude to Dr. Annette Goodman, DO and her entire staff. A celebration of Elizabeth’s life is planned for friends and family in the spring of 2011.
