Obituary of Beatrice M. Ford

BEATRICE M. (McLAUGHLIN) FORD, 93, of Woburn, Massachusetts, formerly of Farmington, Maine, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2010, in Reading, Massachusetts. She was born on October 10, 1916, in Starks, Maine, the daughter of Leon and Eleanor (Small) McLaughlin. She was a nurse with the rank of Lieutenant in the Army during World War II, 1944-1946. Shortly after serving in the Army, Beatrice married Eugene Ford on August 31, 1946. She and her husband settled in Farmington, Maine, where they raised two children. She was a member of the Old South Congregational Church and was part of several community activities. After retirement, they spent time in Bourne, Massachusetts, Largo and Clearwater, Florida. Beatrice enjoyed both playing the electronic organ and listening to organists. She was a flower gardening enthusiast and had a great love for animals. She was an avid reader and Red Sox fan. Beatrice and her husband spent 49 inseparable years together. After her husband’s death, she lived in Belfast at Penobscot Shores and then moved to Woburn, Massachusetts. She is predeceased by her parents, her husband and two sisters. She is survived by her loving children, Eugene E. Ford, Jr. and his long-time friend, Roger Chu, of Woburn, Massachusetts, Jane E. Doak and husband Randy of Belfast; her grandchildren, Matthew Doak and wife Amanda of Hampden, Elissa Doak and significant other Herman Paul of Waldo; and great-granddaughter Dana. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, September 23rd at Grove Cemetery in Belfast. Arrangements are under the care of Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Avenue, Belfast.
