Obituary of Harriet Brann Morrison
HARRIET ROBIE BRANN MORRISON, 92, died after a long illness November 26th at the home of her daughter in Bowdoin. Harriet was the daughter of Col. Frederick and Alice (Genthner) Robie. Her father served as the Secretary of the State of Maine, a position he left to serve in the military during World War II as a military governor of cities in Germany. Her brother, the Reverend Frederick Robie survives her and now lives in Orono.
Harriet in her long life was a wife, a mother and a licensed practical nurse. As a nurse, she worked in hospitals in Bath, Bridgton and nursing homes in Brunswick, Gorham and Portland. Harriet was an active member in the Congregational churches in the towns that she lived. During her 70s and early 80s, she was very proud of the community service given by the thrift stores she ran for the churches in Groveville and Limerick.
She was predeceased by a brother, Col. John Robie in 2001; two children, Viola M. Brann and Mark R. Brann. Harriet is survived by her children, Walton M. Brann of Gorham, Flora D. Wallace of Limerick, Rosland A. Brann of Bowdoin, Leonard C. Brann of Limington, Fred S. Brann of Durham, Avard F. Brann of Meredith, NH. These children have given her 18 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. This family of over 50 living descendants was what she considered the purpose of her life.
A memorial service is planned for next spring. Those wishing to attend should contact Fred S. Brann, 447 Quaker Meetinghouse Road, Durham, ME 04222 or 207-353-6866 between 6-9 p.m. Harriet will be missed by all who knew her. Arrangements under the care of Direct Cremation of Maine, Belfast.
