Obituary of Cleola I. Winters

CLEOLA I. (STEVENS) COLBY WINTERS, 89, passed away May 16, 2012 in Belfast. She was born in Fort Fairfield on October 11, 1922 to Miles and Deleno (McDougal) Stevens. She enjoyed sewing, her flower and vegetable gardens. Cleola also had a passion for music, piano, singing. She was a member of Eastern Star Chapter #19 Arbutus Chapter as well as Liberty Baptist Church and the Montville Grange. She will be remembered by many for her service as a hot lunch cook at Walker School. Cleola also enjoyed traveling and loved people. She attended Fort Fairfield schools as well as Walker High School in Liberty. She also worked for Waldo County Home Health as a CNA. She is predeceased by her parents; her husband of 31 years, Lloyd Colby; her second husband Paul Winters in 2001; her children, Jane Prive and Owen Colby; a brother Vaughn Stevens. Cleola is survived by her children, Sewell Colby and companion Patricia Wahl of Liberty, Avis Canty and husband Richard of South Portland; step-daughters Sharon Theofraustos of Scarborough, Brenda Bailey of Massachusetts; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren. Burial will be held at Maine Veterans Cemetery in Augusta. Arrangements are under the care of Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Avenue, Belfast.
