Obituary of John L Dean

John L. Dean, 88 of Northport , died at Togus VA Wednesday, September 25, 2013. He was born in Northport April 16, 1925 to the late Roscoe and Hazel (Morse) Dean. John served in the US Army, a Purple Heart recipient after being wounded in WWII during the Battle of the Bulge. He also served as an MP at the Nuremberg Trials. After the military, he came home to take care of the family farm after his father died in 1955. Later in life John owned his own wood business, driving wood truck. He enjoyed gardening, reading and telling stories. John was predeceased by his wife Marilyn Bonin Dean in 1982, his two children Katherine and John, Jr., his siblings: Kenneth Dean, Earl Dean and Bertha Bonin and a special friend Lydia Pendleton. He is survived by his children: Sandra Volskay and her husband Tim of Vero Beach, FL, Susan Smith and her husband Daniel of Northport, Ronald Dean of Stillwater, Linda Dean of Belfast, and Jack Dean and his wife Angel of Brewer; sister Barbara Reilly and her husband Peter of Orlando, six grandchildren: Kristy, Lucas, Mallie, Mariah and Taylor, and Allie; four great-grandchildren: Abbagail, Asela, Jackson and Jacob as well as many nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to a time of visitation from 11:30 – 1:00 pm Friday October 4, 2013 at Riposta Funeral Home 182 Waldo Ave. Belfast where a funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm.
