Obituary of James Maxim Coyne

JAMES MAXIM COYNE, 100, died peacefully on January 11, 2014 at Tall Pines Residence. He was born on April 1, 1913 in Waterville, the son of Edward Matthew and Etta (Pomerleau) Coyne. A U.S. Army veteran of WWII, Jim attended Waterville High School, St. Anselm College in New Hampshire, Colby College, Harvard University and Boston University. He was head claims adjuster for U.S.F.& G Insurance in Portland. He then relocated in Caribou with his family where he resided for 38 years. After his wife Barbara's death in 2001, he relocated to Fort Kent to be with his daughter and son-in-law where he made many lasting friends. In 2010 they relocated to Belfast. While in Caribou, his career included, attorney at law, trust officer for Aroostook Trust Bank, Commissioner for Maine Industrial Accident Commission and was a member of the Maine Medical Malpractice Board. Jim was an avid golfer and outdoorsman and had a deep interest in nature and the environment. He was past president of the Caribou Rotary Club, a founding member of the Aroostook Senior Golf Association and later became a Master Maine Guide. Jim was predeceased by his beloved wife, Barbara and his sisters Katherine and Elizabeth. He is survived by his daughter Marion "Penny" Albert and her husband Gilbert of Belfast; his grandchildren Michael Albert of Brandford, CT, John Albert and his wife Lynne of Lakewood, CO, Katherine Read and husband Ryan of Belfast; his great-grandchildren, Matthew, Christopher, Ana, Julia Albert, Jack, Nora and Josephine Read and by Carrie Albert, a special family member. A memorial mass will be celebrated at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Belfast on Friday January 17, 2014 at 10 am. A spring burial and memorial is planned at St. Francis Cemetery in Waterville. Those who wish may make donations in Jim's memory to your favorite charity.
