Obituary of Gretchen A. McGinn

Gretchen A. (Brey) McGinn, 52, of Searsmont, passed away on February 9, 2014 at her home. She was born on April 6, 1961 in Whittier, California the daughter of Gerald and Norma (Pitzel) Brey. Gretchen attended high school as well as college in Minnesota. She moved to Maine with her family in the early 1990’s and started work in the restaurant business. Gretchen also was employed with MSAD 34 and continued her career with MBNA and Bank of America. Gretchen was an exceptional cook and she found peace within her gardens. Her favorite place to be was on the water, whether it was her Minnesota lakes or the coast of Maine. Her greatest love though, was being surrounded by her family and friends. She is predeceased by her father. Gretchen is survived by her mother Norma Brey of Minnesota; her loving husband of 16 years Jim McGinn of Searsmont; her beloved children Alexandra Felton of Portland, Benjamin Felton of Minnesota, and Catherine McGinn of Searsmont; her siblings Mike Brey and wife Katie, Geralynn Colosey and husband John, Mary Brey, Janice Clare and significant other Darrel, and Patrick Brey and wife Kari all of Minnesota; several nieces and nephews and special nephew Phillip, and her much loved dog Otis. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday February 12, 2014 from 4-6pm with a funeral to follow Thursday February 13, 2014 at 10am at Riposta Funeral Home 182 Waldo Ave. Belfast, Maine.
