Obituary of Barbara A. Chasser

BARBARA A. (VanDeusen) CHASSER, 68 of Monroe, passed away on May 13, 2014 in Bangor. She was born on February 3, 1946 in Willimantic, Connecticut, the daughter of George and Mary (Litts) VanDeusen. In her younger years, she worked in Connecticut as a Certified Nurse’s Assistant. After moving to Maine in the late 80s to be near family, she worked doing landscaping. Barbara enjoyed crafting, animals, painting and music, especially Cher, Elvis and classic country, as well as tending her home flower and vegetable gardens. One of her greatest loves was spending time with her grandchildren and family. She is predeceased by her parents and her husband Paul E. Chasser in 1994. Barbara is survived by her companion Robert Torrey; her children, Wayne Ely and wife Samantha of Searsport, Jeffrey Ely of West Hartford, CT and Scott Ely of Monroe; her siblings, Eleanor, Joe, Tommy, Tillie, Shirley, and Janine; her grandchildren Jessi, Erin, Makala, Matthew, Sapphire; special friends Carl and Arlene Lenzo and Joe and Sally Davis. Memorial services will be held at 3 pm on Sunday May 18, 2014 at Riposta Funeral Home in Belfast.
