Obituary of Robert W. Jackson
Robert W. Jackson, 90, of Belfast passed away at Waldo County General Hospital on October 18, 2014. He was born September 22, 1924, the son of the late Harold A. Jackson Sr. and Mildred Smith Jackson. Robert attended Crosby High School and later worked for the Civil Service in Searsport during WWII. He worked over 50 years as a master carpenter throughout the Belfast area. Robert belonged to the Coin Club of Searsport and the Silver Harvest Grange. He was baptized in the Methodist Church of Belfast. He was a kind, hard working man who loved his family, antiques, collecting coins, woodworking and refurbishing furniture. Robert loved to barter or swap a story with anyone who stopped at his garage sale. Being a caretaker of many Bayside cottages and homes, he became quite a historian of the area and loved to tell stories and relay history. He had often contributed to the Bayside Historical Society. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, great-grandfather who will be missed deeply.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mary Walker Jackson; two sons John Jackson and his wife Cherry of Belfast; Dennis Jackson and his wife Pamela Wright of Gorham; one daughter Brenda Larrabee and her husband Glen of Belfast; also three sisters and one brother, Donna Way and her husband Lawrence, Mary Benjamin, Jessie Rhodes and her husband Milford all of Belfast; Hartley Jackson and his wife Deborah of Belmont; his loving grandchildren Heidi Jackson, Kristian Jackson, Sasha Marasca, Mikhail Jackson, Craig Larrabee, Tammy Sanderson, Chad Larrabee; many great-grandchildren Devin Jackson, Makayla Marasca, Caleb Marasca, Rowen Jackson, Hannah Sanderson and Zachary Sanderson; several nieces and nephews.
Robert was pre-deceased by five brothers Olin, Paul, Richard, David and Harold Jr., two sisters Dora Jackson Phillips and Judith Jackson Fletcher.
A memorial service will take place at 10 am on Saturday October 25, 2014 at Riposta Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Grove Cemetery.
