Molly Schnabel posted a condolence

I was extremely saddened to learn of Alden’s passing. I knew him during his M.S. work at Northeastern University. We saw a lot of each other during that time and I truly enjoyed our friendship. He was a very gifted musician and craftsman. He played recorder in the Early Renaissance Players who gave weekly concerts at NU. It should be noted that he made his own recorder. There was never a time when I hiked in the White Mountains that I did not think of him snd his hiking information. While hiking by himself, he came across a group who had not prepared for sudden change of weather. He had to pack one I. Snow and get two others off the mountain. He was well known for his academic ability but more appreciated for his knowledge of self, humor and knowledge of the world. I will always treasure his friendship and be sorry that the world took us to different places. Molly Schnabel, Whitman, Massachusetts.
