Obituary of Bernice Jorgenson Kuzmanich
HALLOWELL - Bernice Jorgenson Kuzmanich, 93, died September 28, 2015 at Woodlands Senior Living. She was born in Everett, Washington on May 26, 1922 to Amelia and Adolph Jorgenson.
She graduated from Stadium High School in Tacoma, Washington in 1940. She married Rody Kuzmanich and they were married 18 years but divorced and never remarried. She loved living and socializing with many friends, especially the Golden Girls she graduated with and their reunion times. She had a great sense of humor, loved jokes and laughter. She moved to Maine 10 years ago. It was a transition that wasn't easy to make but it's what she wanted. She wanted to be around her family. She worked at the Tacoma Elks on Union Avenue for 35 years.
She was predeceased by her brother Roy Jorgenson and sister Lillian Ellenwood. She is survived by her two daughters, Marilyn Chaput of Belgrade and her special needs daughter Carol Kuzmanich from Shawmut House in Shawmut; four grandchildren: Carla Chaput of Belgrade, Scott Chaput and wife Celeste of Mt. Dora, Florida, Rod Chaput and wife Claudine of Litchfield, Shane Chaput and wife Rosemarie of Aitkin, Minnesota; and five great-grandchildren: Danielle Chaput Dane, Curtis Chaput, Lynnae Chaput, Travis Chaput and Meredith Chaput.
She was cremated by Direct Cremation of Maine and ashes will be returned to Mountain View Cemetery some time in Tacoma, Washington. Families will gather at Woodlands of Hallowell, October 7th at 2pm. Thanks to all who cared for my mother at her home in Hallowell.
