Obituary of Paul A. Lindelof

Paul A. “Coastal” Lindelof, 80 of Swanville, passed away after a short illness on July 21, 2019 in Bangor, Maine, surrounded by his loving family. Paul was born in Norwood, Massachusetts on July 13, 1939 to the late Alfred and Rita Lindelof. He was raised in Stoughton Massachusetts and spent most of his summers on Cape Cod with his favorite uncle. Paul graduated from Stoughton High School in 1957. Prior to high school he attended Stoughton Elementary where he met and then married the love of his life Joyce, in 1959. Paul proudly served an enlistment in the United States Navy. He served on the USS Lake Champlain during which time the aircraft carrier escorted the infamous missiles out of Cuba, during the Cuban Missle Crisis. He was a master plumber who owned and operated Paul Lindelof and Sons Plumbing and Heating in Stoughton, MA. He moved his family to Swanville Maine in 1976 and started up P&J Builders where he built and sold several homes. In 1984 he opened Coastal Plumbing and Heating in Belfast and operated this successful business for many years. He was also a lobsterman who sold fresh lobster out of his shop. Paul and Joyce spent a beautiful life together traveling cross county in an RV, taking trips to the Caribbean and visiting their daughter and son-in-law in Europe, while they were stationed in the military. He was a man of many talents. Many would say that he made the best pizza in town and held the most delicious Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. He loved large family gatherings and also made beautiful wooden furniture that he gave to his family. Paul was a lifetime member of the Belfast American Legion Post #43. He absolutely loved snowmobiling and 4-wheeling with Joyce and his family in the northern Maine mountains during his entire life. He was an avid New England Patriots fan and enjoyed watching the Boston Red Sox and Nascar. Paul is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Joyce A. (Chapman) Lindelof; his children, Bruce Lindelof and his wife Shelly, Jeff Lindelof and his wife Tracey and Paula Perry and her husband Troy; his sister Judy Koppen; his grandchildren Brad and his wife Jessica, Brianne and her husband Ron, Brooke, Bryan, Joelle, Lake, Jett and Skye; his cousin Eric Lindelof; his three great grandchildren Hailee, Jacob and Landon; his beloved dog Holly-Jo and his many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Per Paul’s request, there will be a private family celebration of his life.
