Obituary of Barbara R. Nickerson

BARBARA R. (WEST) NICKERSON, 82 of Belfast, passed away May 5, 2019 at Sussman House in Rockport. She was born in Belfast on April 1, 1938 to Benjamin and Myrtle West. Barbara graduated from Crosby High School, Class of 1956. After graduation, Barbara worked in Portland before moving with her friend, Priscilla Thompson, to Daytona Beach where they worked in finance. Barbara moved home and worked at Clark Agency and then in public finance. She began dating a classmate, Ken Nickerson, and they later married on April 12, 1959. Barbara enjoyed keeping her flower gardens at her home, spending time at her cottage on Pitcher Pond and water-skiing there. She also played golf every weekday morning for many years with Jo Thompson at the Northport Golf Course. She is predeceased by her parents. Barbara is survived by her loving husband, Kenneth Nickerson of Belfast; her beloved son, Kevin Nickerson and grandchildren Caden and Reilly Nickerson; her siblings, Flora, Lillian and William and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May l4th at Riposta Funeral Home. A private interment will follow at Grove Cemetery. Memories and condolences may be shared at ripostafh.com.
