Obituary of Douglas N. Deans

Douglas N. Deans, 73 of Belfast passed away May 3, 2019 at EMMC in Bangor. He was born January 17, 1946 to Robert and Hilda (Heath) Deans. Doug graduated from Bucksport High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was a life-long fan of all the New England sports teams as well as being an avid golfer. He was a devoted father and grandfather who spent the better part of 40 years attending his children and grandchildren’s sporting events and supporting them. Doug enjoyed spending his last several winters with his wife in the Leisure Day community in Zephyrhills Florida. He was predeceased by his parents and a brother, Elwin Bennett. Doug is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Laurelyn (Perkins)Deans of Belfast; daughter Michelle Atherton and fiancé Paul Roy of Milford and their children Michael, Jocelyn, Kaylee, and Jayda; son Elmer Deans and fiancée Amanda Curtis of Morrill and their children Zoe, Grace, Summer, Curtis, and Madison; his siblings Lewis Deans of Orland, Lloyd Deans and wife Mary of Orland, Alfred Deans of Florida, Brenda Brown of Levant, Larry Deans and wife Sandy of Orland; his father in law Elmer Perkins, sister in law Lorna Bernosky and many special extended family. A memorial service will be held on Monday May 6, 2019 at 3 pm at the Belfast United Methodist Church with a gathering immediately following in the Fellowship Hall at the church. Interment will be held at a later date at Elmwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make donations in Doug’s memory to Treats Falls House, 2 Hillside Drive, Orono, ME 04473.
