Obituary of Luke A Janssen

Belfast On April 14, 2019 Luke Allen Janssen passed away at his home in Belfast, Maine. He was born to Michael Edward Janssen and Sharon (Manchester) Janssen on Nov. 10, 1978 in Liberty. Luke grew up in Liberty where he enjoyed playing around his rural home and swimming at his grandparent’s home on Lake St. George. He has always enjoyed eating, especially chocolate cake and cookies, swimming, and animals whether his kitties at home or watching birds in the yard, and looking at books. He later lived in Spurwink Foster Homes and a group home foundation in Belfast. Luke enjoyed music, birds & animals, watching TV, especially Patriots football, swimming, books, chocolate treats, walking in the Belfast community, choosing DVD’s at the library, and going to local parks & being outdoors. Luke had multiple handicaps, and had many wonderful, caring support people and caregivers over the years. We wish to especially thank the caregivers at the Group Home Foundation’s home in Belfast, and Beacon Family Living Inc. (BFLI) in Belfast. The loved and nurtured him and became part of his family. Luke was predeceased by his parents, Michael and Sharon Janssen; sister Kaitlin (Janssen) Osborn, as well as his Manchester and Janssen grandparents. He is survived by his brother Leon Janssen of Portland Oregon; nephew Kirin Janssen-Fiorillo; paternal aunts and guardians Patrice Janssen of Belfast, and Kerry Black of Liberty; and a great many aunts, uncles, and cousins. A memorial service will be held at Riposta Funeral Home in Belfast, ME on Sunday May 5, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. Burial will take place immediately following at the Hunt Cemetery in Liberty, ME.
