Obituary of Therese Mary Begley Broome

Therese Mary Broome (known as Theresa), of Stockton Springs, Maine, passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 21, 2019. She was born Therese Mary Begley in New Bedford, Bristol, Massachusetts, on December 21, 1927, to parents Margaret Mary Tobin of Bantry, County Cork, Ireland, and Patrick Joseph Begley of Dungarvan, County Waterford, Ireland. Theresa’s sisters were Margaret Mary Begley, Mary Anne Begley, and her brother was Edward William Begley. Theresa is survived by her children, Katherine Mary Charland of Stockton Springs, ME, Thomas Normand Charland and wife Danuta, of Winthrop, MA, John Edward Charland and wife Lou, of Fairfield, ME, and Kelly-Ann Charland , of the Boston-area, MA, nephews, James Noel Pheur and wife Martha of Bantry, County Cork, Ireland, Michael Begley of CA, Anthony Diethelm and wife Debbie of Southern Pines, NC, Mark Diethelm and wife Lisa of Middleboro, MA, grandchildren, Geoffrey Charland of Boston, MA, Amaris, Armand, Abigail, Amelia, and Avery Charland of Fairfield, ME, and great-nieces Sabrina, Treasa and Michelle Pheur of Ireland, 2nd great-nieces and nephews, Richard Jr. and Robert Doyle of Ireland, Eoghan and Amy Fehily of Ireland, Crystal and Emily Diethelm of NC, and Mark Jr., Kaitlyn, and Alyssa Diethelm of Middleboro, MA. Theresa was predeceased by her parents, her siblings, and her husbands, Joseph Thomas Charland of Boston, MA, Claude Elmer Broome of San Angelo, TX, and partner, Roland Rufus Curry of Greensboro, NC. Theresa had a warm, contagious smile and a talent for validating the goodness that she saw in other people. She always offered praise and affirmations. Theresa was an employee at the Hurley Building, Government Square, in Boston, MA, and also worked at Bank of America at Columbia Point, also in Boston. When Theresa lived in Maine, she worked at Diamond Match Co., in Oakland. A memorial service and reception will be held for Theresa on Saturday, April 13th at 10 am, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 66 Old County Road, Rockport, ME. In lieu of flowers, friends and family may donate to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in memory of Theresa.
