Obituary of Chad A. Overlock

Chad A. Overlock, 43, of Jefferson, passed away unexpectedly Saturday March 23, 2019 at his home from a medical emergency, surrounded by people he loved. Born April 27, 1975 in Belfast, Maine where he spent most of his life, he resided for the last 9 years in Jefferson with his best friend and love Cheryl Moon and her children whom he cared for as his own. He graduated from Belfast Area High School Class of 1993. Chad was a volunteer firefighter in Montville at one time, a Class A OTR driver for Big Rock Transportation, drove for Maritime Energy, hauled milk for M.A. Haskell & Sons, and most recently a dump truck driver for H.C.Crooker Construction out of Topsham. Though Chad was on the road a lot for work, he most enjoyed cruising the roads and going for long rides to anywhere - he especially loved riding with Cheryl on his Harley. He loved the Red Sox and the Bruins, attending car shows, NASCAR racing, tuner cars, and R/C racing. He had a passion for the outdoors whether it be riding, bow hunting, ice fishing, camping or even just the simple task of plowing on his 4-wheeler or feeding his chickens - being outside brought him joy. Chad considered being outdoors his biggest form of therapy, and was described by a friend as a true pillar of the outdoor community. It’s because of these passions that he touched hundreds of lives and created many friendships that he held dear to him through social media including Maine Motorcycle Xperience, Maine Expanded Archery, MAINE ICE FISHING, along with numerous other groups and individuals. Everyone who met Chad quickly knew he was never short for words, he had the gift for gabbing and he could talk about anything. He was always quick to share a joke or tell a story about “back in the day.” Most of those stories involved hanging out in the Reny’s parking lot in Belfast and cruising the strip down to the water and back. You could see his big smile a mile away, and he had a heart just as big to go with it. In addition to family and friends that he held dear to his heart he always had a special place for English Bulldogs, especially his buddy Ripken who’s been waiting for him and Jasmine who will see him again someday. Chad was predeceased by his grandmother, Elizabeth Kenney; cousin, Darline Johnson; and his dear friend, Mark James. He is survived by his mother, Kimberley Overlock and life partner Bob Brown whom Chad cherished and considered his father; his fiance Cheryl Moon; his step-children, whom he was always extremely proud of; Brooke Stewart & significant other Justin Boles; Christian Moon; Alexis Moon and his newest love, granddaughter Anastasia Boles whom he described as his loveable baby girl; his God-daughter Gracie Lam; step-sister Karen Brown & significant other Ted Reed and their children Brittni, Brooke & Bradley; close cousins Paul and Lester Warman; his dear friend Kevin Bowden who he regarded as his brother; Cheryl’s parents, Mark and Shirley Buck, her sister’s Kathy and husband Mike and daughter Kimberly, and Tiffany and husband Joey and son Joey, who all loved him as one of their own; as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins. A few months back Chad added more friends to his life and those are the congregation of Truth Baptist Church, Jefferson. Chad came to know the Lord through the friendship of Pastor Lovelace, a bond that will always be special and one that Chad held so dear. Chad’s personality was bigger than life, he made many friends wherever he went and he will be missed by them all. A special thank you to the Jefferson First Responders and Waldoboro EMS for their assistance. In memory of Chad, Big Dawg, whenever you ride under the Route 1 overpass in Belfast, rev it loud regardless what you’re riding on or driving in.
