Bill Moore was one of the kindest, most intelligent, loving, widely read, and generous persons I have ever known. We became friends twenty or so years ago discussing plants at Plants Unlimited, where he was a stalwart. And after plants - books, travel, sports. I last saw him at his house in late October, 2018, just before I left for the Pacific, and he talked fearlessly of what was in store for him - and also about the Red Sox and the Patriots. The way he lived his life is an example to us all - modest, witty, brave, and a great friend. - Paul Theroux
