Obituary of Sandra G. Strahan

Stockton Springs Sandra Strahan 74, passed away unexpectedly on June 28, at the home she and her husband of 40 years, Chip Bradstreet shared in Stockton Springs, Maine. Sandra's father was in the Navy, so Sandra spent much of her youth living in many area of the United States, but always returned to the coast of Maine to stay with relatives when her father was at sea, where she continued to live after her father's retirement from the Navy. Sandra graduated from the Univ. of Maine at Augusta, where she studied Art, Music, and Physiology. She worked as a self employed artist, and loved working in sculpture, ceramics, and painting, and worked in a variety of mediums from welded steel to watercolor painting. In 1983 Sandra received the Bernard Langlais Memorial Scholarship to the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in Skowhegan Maine. Her work has been exhibited in numerous galleries throughout Maine. Sandra and her husband Chip enjoyed traveling and had the opportunity to spend time in many countries including Russia, Bulgaria, India and Japan as well as many others. Sandra was a lifelong advocate for social justice and women's rights. Sandra is survived by her daughter Robin, her three grandchildren Elizabeth, Jeffrey, and Megan; Her three great grandchildren Lance, Bristol, and London; Her brother Don and sister Jackie. Sandra was pre-deceased in 2014 by her son Edward. An opportunity for friends and family to gather and share memories of Sandra's life is being planned, but a date has not yet been set.
